Garfield Community Service Center, Chicago Department Of Community ServiceDFSS Community Service Centers help individuals and families in need access a wide range of resources from shelter, food and clothing to domestic violence assistance, job training/placement and prisoner re-entry. Residents can get information about rental, utility and other financial assistance programs. The facilities serve as Warming and Cooling Centers during periods of extreme weather. St. Pius – Hope ProgramSt. Pius V is a Catholic parish in the Pilsen neighborhood on Chicago’s near southwest side. The church assists with needed services including emergency services (soup kitchen, food pantry, referrals to other services), counseling and family services at St. Pius (counseling, domestic violence services, marriage enrichment, parenting skills), and legal services (The Chicago Legal Clinic operates at St. Pius and provides low-cost legal assistance for immigration and other matters).
