Local Hire/Targeted Hire – Access to Good Jobs

Join Working Family Solidarity, and the UIC Center for Healthy Work's Dolores Castaneda, for a webinar on how to create more good jobs with public funds, and to increase recruiting, training, and hiring of applicants from all of our communities, especially African American and Latinx. Spanish interpretation available.

The moderator will be our Executive Director, Leone Jose Bicchieri. There will be Q&A after the panel presentations.

Kassie Beyer, Statewide Director, Jobs to Move America (JMA) coalition, Illinois
--Kassie will talk about the Local Hire/Targeted hire work that JMA IL is doing, and it's work to push for public funds to be used to create good jobs, with the CTA and with federal Infrastructure funds.
Tameka Gavin, member of the Case Management Team/Peace Circle, Restorative Justice of Cook County, Englewood area
--Tameka will describe her work, and then talk about the importance of creating more good jobs for our communities, and for our youth.
Dolores Castañeda, community activist, UIC Center for Healthy Work, and activist with the Greater Lawndale Healthy Work (GLHW) project
--Dolores will talk about her activism for safer & healthier jobs, tell us a bit about the GLHW project, and why we need more good jobs in that are accessible to all people
