Berlin Nightclub Workers On Strike As Contract Talks Lag
Workers at Berlin, a renowned LGBTQ+ nightclub, have ended their two-day strike during one of the club's busiest weekends, agreeing to re-enter negotiations. The strike was prompted by the owners' repeated absence from bargaining sessions and the lack of progress in addressing workers' demands for better pay, improved healthcare access, and safer training protocols. The workers, who had previously unionized with Unite Here Local 1, expressed hope that the strike would encourage management to accelerate the negotiation process. The strike received a lot of support from advocacy groups and organizations and affected workers were able to cover a lot of their lost wages through GoFundMe donations.
