About
Elizabeth Jarpe-Ratner, PhD, MST, MPH, (she/her/hers) is the Evaluation Director at the MidAmerica Center for Public Health Practice and a Core Faculty member of the Doctor of Public Health Leadership Program, both at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health. She has over a decade of research and evaluation experience and has been a lead member of multiple federally-funded evaluation teams, working across the fields of governmental public health, K-12 education, and adolescent and school-based health to better understand how to adopt and implement policy, systems, environmental, and practice changes. She works collaboratively with practice partners to incorporate evaluation findings, most recently working with Chicago Public Schools to update their sexual health curriculum based on an evaluation led by Dr. Jarpe-Ratner. Prior to her work at UIC, Dr. Jarpe-Ratner held research positions at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, managed school-based health programs with the Harlem Children’s Zone and is also a former Teach For America teacher. Dr. Jarpe-Ratner holds a PhD in Community Health Sciences from the UIC School of Public Health, an M.S.T. in bilingual/bicultural education from the Pace University School of Education; an M.P.H. in reproductive, adolescent, and child health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, and a B.A. in Spanish language and literature from the University of Michigan. Dr. Jarpe-Ratner is active in her children’s school district PTO with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and volunteers as an educator with Oak Park OWL, a K-12 community-based sexual health promotion program.
