COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR II at Sinai Urban Health Institute

About

Alyce Roberson joined Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) in March 2020 as a Community Health Worker II on the CHW Support Program.  Currently she works on the Patient Experience Pilot  and the ED intervention Project.

Prior to SUHI, Alyce worked as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) where she assisted patients with disabilities and trained fellow employees. In addition to being a DSP she was a pharmacy technician. Working in the pharmacy allowed Alyce to be a resource for helping customers to improve their health. She learned to have patience and to be mindful of those who might be experiencing discomfort or pain while waiting for their medications.  Both roles provided her an opportunity to understand the needs of others and to enhance her empathy and compassion when working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. They also helped her develop a passion to be an advocate and resource for those facing adversity.

Alyce is grateful for her role as a CHW as it provides her the opportunity to continue her mission to help people.
