Advocacy groups gather in Federal Plaza to demand renewal of federal protections for undocumented workers

Worker centers and other advocacy groups gathered at Federal Plaza last Thursday to demand the renewal of federal protections for immigrant workers. This press conference kicked-off a national week of action calling on the Department of Homeland Security to release renewal guidelines for the Deferred Action for Labor Enforcement, or DALE.

DALE protects undocumented workers for two years by issuing a work permit and Social Security number. Having deferred action status protects undocumented workers from facing immigration-related retaliation for reporting workplace violations and/or illegal labor practices.
