Columbia College Chicago adjunct faculty to strike Monday

More than 600 adjunct faculty members at Columbia College Chicago are planning to strike due to contract disputes over budget cuts that were proposed to address a $20 million deficit. The college announced it is planning to cut hundred of class sections, which would reduce adjunct faculty’s pay as well as increase other class sizes without a corresponding pay increase. The union representing these part-time professors, who make up around two-thirds of the teaching staff at the school, expects that about 1,000 classes will be impacted, which could disrupt the schedules of many of the school's 6,500 undergraduates.
